Wind in Spine - Urvashi Hawkes
So working in silence yesterday I let the yoga just flow out. There was a whole roomful full of noisy people in the sanctuary across the hall, thunder and rain outside the huge picture window...green light swimming all around. My body needed to open very, very slowly, especially along the spine, between the vertebrae. The hip blades wanted to feel all the muscles inside them open, twist away from the bone just slightly. I began the internal chant as I did this, let it roll around inside my blood, bounce off the corpuscles, muscles, tendons. It felt like the rain outside had come in, deep in. The internal chant went on for a very long time. The noise in the church didn't subside, but inside it did...became like the twittering of birds outside as the rain stopped. I sat in a twist for a very long time just rocking, feeling the chant curl around my spine, right up into the center of my brain, right down into my tailbone. There was a huge wind right inside my spine, a long fiber of high wind extending the length of my spine and right up into the center of my head. The chant became external, wound up and around and around, evolved into wordless toning. I felt the entirety of my being vibrating, fell into the black hole. Managed to come all the way out only after lunch. Last night, the last core of wind revealed its deep fears in a weird nightmare. I could feel that last place, where the fear came from. I breathed into it, ran the tongue of my adult comprehension over the memories stored there, soothed them. I think it is all almost gone. Can feel a bit of work in the left side of my body is still necessary, in my back, right at the base of the shoulder blade. More chanting, more yoga...I'll get it all!
